Detroit Dance City Festival
DDCF 2021 VIRTUAL PROGRAM
September 8-12, 3:00 p.m. daily
As one of the main events, DDCF’S “RIVERA COURT STAGE” is a series of performance showcases taking place in River Court located in the beautiful atrium of the detroit institute of the arts. This unique showcase is designed to highlight local, national, and international talent, sharing diverse styles of dance with DDCF audiences in an inspiring museum setting.
ARD has been invited to showcase our film Unorthodox, a work in created in collaboration with composer Stefania de Kennessey to create an original score inspired by the drive and tradition of Klezmer music. The work speaks to the juxtaposition of grungy raw realness and the simple polite versions of ourselves we often portray to the world. What happens when you unzip the dress to breathe? The title is inspired from the book with the same label (recently adapted to a Netflix Series), about a woman who leaves a strict hassidic sect. Cinematography by Melissa Wu.
